The following roles are CASUAL and must be available weekends (trading Wed-Sun): Bar Service (2 positions: 10 - 15 hrs week); (1 position 30 – 40 hrs per week) The successsful applicant will be hosting locals and tourists alike. Be able to create a welcoming environment, engage with patrons in a polite and friendly manner while ensuring safe work practices. Always offering a positive experience for patrons. An RSA is a must have. Kitchen Hand (10 - 20 hrs week) Preparing food as the assistant to our head cook. Ability to be flexible and adaptable while maintaining a high standard of preparation and presentation. Knowledge of food safety practices an advantage. Cleaning Position (10 - 20 hrs week) Ensuring hotel & accommodation meets a high standard of clean and comfortable every time. The successful applicant should be effective and efficient and work well in a team environment.

Defence Work Experience Program (DWEP)
The Defence Work Experience Program (DWEP) is a national Youth Program that provides young Australians with an interest in a Defence career, the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of job roles available within Defence and the Australian Public Service. Defence work experience activities are designed to be hands on and interactive so that young people can make informed career decisions.

Warwick Careers Expo
Assumption College hosted the Warwick Careers Expo on Monday, 18 July 2022. Universities, TAFE, student accomodation, and registered training organisations set up their displays in Assumption Hall. There were 21 exhibitors from organisations such as University of Southern Queensland, QUT, UQ, Griffith University, TAFE QLD, IGLU, Aurora Training Institute and Gateway to Training. Over 350 students from Assumption College, Scots PGC, Warwick State High School and Warwick Christian College attended the expo. These students were able to take the opportunity to explore their options and ask questions in relation to future pathways. This was a great event for the school students of Warwick to prepare their plans for the future.
Ag Inspirations
Five students from Assumption College, Warwick participated in the Ag Inspirations program from 25th - 27th July 2022. This program was provided by Ag Force in partnership with the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training. These Year 10 students had the opportunity to explore career pathways in agriculture and local industry around the Southern Downs.
Year 10 SET (Senior Education & Training) Plans
Parents/Guardians of Year 10 students will be invited to meet with their child and a member of the college leadership team to discuss career and study interests, including pathways and subject selection for Years 11 and 12. The SET Plan meetings will be scheduled at times from the 22nd to 26th of August 2022. Assumption College reviews these plans several times throughout the course of the students' senior schooling. This is done in order to ensure individualised success in whatever pathway the students choose.
The purpose of a SET (Senior Education & Training) plan is to help students:
- set and achieve their learning goals after Year 10
- include flexible and coordinated pathway options in their course of senior study
- think about their education, training and career options after Year 12 and make decisions about their learning pathways
- structure their learning around their abilities, interests, and ambitions
- communicate with their parents, teachers and career guidance officers about their learning pathways and post-school plans.” (www.qcaa.qld.edu.au)
Expresso Machine Operation Skillset Course
The College would like to offer Year 10, 11 & 12 students the opportunity to participate in an Expresso Machine Operation Skillset Course. This provides students with the skills and knowledge to work in Barista environments. This is useful for many hospitality pathways and the course has the benefit of awarding two (2) QCE points to students who successfully complete the course.
When: Tuesday 30th August to Thursday 1st September 2022 (3 days)
Cost: $220.00
Where: Assumption College (Room 204)
A letter/permission slip will be available for students in the coming weeks.
Year 10 Work Experience
Many of our Year 10 students are organising their placements for the work experience week at the end of this term (12 - 16 September 2022). This is always a great week with students taking up the opportunity to find out firsthand more about a career of their interest. Year 10 students were provided with an information pack last term. We ask those students, experiencing any difficulty in finding a placement, talk to their careers class teacher or our College Careers Department. Work experience agreement forms for placements are due for return by, Monday 8 August 2022.

Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre
A QTAC session was held with Year 12 students on Monday, 1st August 2022. During this session, the following topics were discussed:
- Finishing Year 12

- How to apply
- Assistance schemes
- Course preferences
- Finances: course costs and financial assistance

Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme

The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (PHMSS) is designed to encourage and assist undergraduate students in health-related disciplines to complete their studies and join the health workforce. UQ Excellence Scholarship is part of the UQ Academic Scholarship program. This scholarship was established in 2008 and is maintained by funds from The University of Queensland and donors.

Tax, Super + You Competition
Students in Year 7–12, unleash your creativity and find a new way to tell others about tax and super. This competition will give insights into the value of tax and super, and the chance to win a share of $7,600 in prizes.
For a chance to become Australia’s next tax and super creative genius, a student must:
- be in Year 7–12
- be enrolled in the Australian education system
- only submit up to three entries per person/group
- complete a separate entry form to accompany each entry
- complete a separate photo consent form for each person shown in your entry
- comply with the terms and conditions.
There is no entry fee.

First Pitch Competition
First Pitch calls on budding young entrepreneurs aged up to 18 years to enter their best business pitch for the chance to win prizes.
Students can submit a 3-minute pitch on a business innovation or idea that can make a difference in their community and Australia wide. The pitch will be judged by a local panel of entrepreneurs and business professionals, and the state winners get to participate in the national championship.

The KSP Writers’ Centre is proud to present this annual poetry competition for Australian writers, which is free for youth to enter thanks to sponsorship from the Shire of Mundaring. Entries must be original and unpublished. All poetry styles and themes are acceptable.
