The College is offering a first aid skill set course for students in Years 11 and 12. This first aid course is a cluster of units from the Certificate III in Fitness. These units are HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID011 Provide first aid, and HLTWHS001 Participate in Workplace Health and Safety. This course intends to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to emergency situations by providing First Aid. The course may offer two (2) points towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
Permission forms have previously been sent home and enrolments for the course are now closed. The course will be held again in June for Year 10 students.
ESPRESSO MACHINE 'BARISTA' COURSE - 26 - 28 MAY 2025
The College is offering Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to participate in an Espresso Machine Operation Skillset Course. This is a three-day course that provides students with the skills and knowledge to work in Barista environments. This is a useful course for many hospitality pathways and the course has the benefit of potentially awarding two points towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) to successful students.
BRISBANE CAREERS & EMPLOYMENT EXPO - 13 JUNE 2025
Assumption College is offering Year 10, 11 and 12 students the opportunity to attend the Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo on Friday, 13 June 2025. The expo promises to host over 160 organisations and employers with career opportunities. The event is recommended for students considering employment, looking for a career path or seeking career information.
A letter and permission forms have previously been sent home to students, with registrations for this excursion now closed.
YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE BLOCK - 16 - 20 JUNE 2025
In Year 10, the College runs a Careers program that aims to prepare students for their senior phase of learning and assist students in making decisions around career and education pathways. As part of the Careers program, Year 10 students have the opportunity to participate in a week of work experience. This year the work experience program will run in Term 2, Week 9, Monday, 16 June to Friday, 20 June 2025.
Completed work experience agreement forms are due by Friday, 16 May 2025. For more information please see Mrs Porter or Mrs Meerdink.
Year 10, 11 or 12 students can complete a TAFE Queensland qualification while still at school. This includes studying mid-year and choosing from a variety of Certificate I to III courses across a range of study areas from hospitality to health, creative to construction and more.
